What is Comprehensive Clinical Assessment Under the NDIS?
A comprehensive NDIS assessment is a service offered to people with disabilities that covers routine clinical and health evaluation of a participant to assess their physical and mental health and detect symptoms early. This assessment involves a thorough examination of the person and issuing a detailed report providing the medical basis for the development or review of the participant’s NDIS care plan.
The NDIS assessment is performed by a registered doctor or medical practitioner and can last up to a few hours. After the assessment, the doctor sends the report to you and your plan manager for reviewing your application or eligibility for support. The assessment provider can schedule the appointment at a time that fits your schedule and needs.
The NDIS comprehensive assessment can be done in multiple stages and may involve a neuropsychological examination to check your cognitive, emotional and psychosocial status and other physical and mental checkups. The exact tests or procedures involved in an NDIS assessment may depend on your specific case or your doctor. You are allowed to take a trusted person with you when attending these appointments.

The Regional Assessment Service will work with you to develop a personalised home support plan tailored directly to your needs. Assessors send a ‘referral for service’ to appropriate providers, such as Newcastle and Hunter Community Health, to let them know you are a new client and would like to engage their services. The provider will contact you to make further arrangements.
Alternatively, if you would like to visit or speak to a service provide to decide if they are the right fit for you, a ‘referral code’ can be sent which allows them to view your client record. The provider will review your identified needs and determine how they can assist. You then make the final decision on whether or not to engage their services.
Our NDIS assessment services are compliant with the scheme guidelines and are provided by registered doctors who meet the quality indicators, ensuring the best support and guidance for participants. Book your slot today!
