What is Domestic Assistance under the Home Care Package (HCP)?
Through your HCP, you have flexibility and choice in the delivery of your care and services. This means you (and anyone you nominate) have choice and control over what services are delivered and how they are delivered. Domestic assistance is included in the range of services that can be provided under your HCP. Domestic assistance for the aged, allows them to live independently. This assistance is particularly available for people who live alone at home or have no one to support them with daily tasks. A support worker can help you with various routine household tasks like cleaning, laundry, personal care, and meal preparation.
However, your HCP will not cover your day-to-day living costs, such as rent, food, groceries, and utilities. Household items and shopping needs such as furniture, fridge, or cooking utensils may also not be covered. Contact your plan manager to learn more.
If you are looking for aged care support for yourself or a loved one, contact us today to talk to our Managing Director or Clinical Care Manager about your goals and needs to get a tailored plan.
NHCH is a full-service provider for HCP clients between levels 1 and 4. We aim to help participants with planning and managing their HCP, and how they would like their services delivered. Contact NHCH today to get the right support.

The Regional Assessment Service will work with you to develop a personalised home support plan tailored directly to your needs. Assessors send a ‘referral for service’ to appropriate providers, such as Newcastle and Hunter Community Health, to let them know you are a new client and would like to engage their services. The provider will contact you to make further arrangements.
Alternatively, if you would like to visit or speak to a service provide to decide if they are the right fit for you, a ‘referral code’ can be sent which allows them to view your client record. The provider will review your identified needs and determine how they can assist. You then make the final decision on whether or not to engage their services.
