Complex Bowel Care Management–NHCH

Complex bowel care involves specialised support and care for individuals facing significant bowel health challenges, including issues like constipation, diarrhoea, or faecal incontinence (involuntary stool leakage). It is a significant personal care service provided under the NDIS and involves skilled and trained registered nurses or caregivers offering assistance based on the unique needs of each patient.

We at NHCH understand that not everyone is comfortable discussing their bowel health. However, maintaining a healthy bowel system is essential for your overall well-being, which is why we provide personal assistance and support to those struggling with ongoing bowel concerns. Our complex bowel care service covers the required support to help you manage these symptoms effectively. Contact us to learn more or discuss with an expert.

What is Covered Under the NDIS?

For individuals with a permanent disability, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) offers funding for a range of disability-related personal care and health supports, including complex bowel care management.

NDIS funding can cover both products like continence aids and services like bowel management support and occupational therapy. It also covers the cost of nurses registered to assist NDIS participants with bowel management. If you’re an NDIS-registered individual and need support with bowel care management, contact us immediately for guidance through the process.

The Regional Assessment Service will work with you to develop a personalised home support plan tailored directly to your needs. Assessors send a ‘referral for service’ to appropriate providers, such as Newcastle and Hunter Community Health, to let them know you are a new client and would like to engage their services. The provider will contact you to make further arrangements.

Alternatively, if you would like to visit or speak to a service provide to decide if they are the right fit for you, a ‘referral code’ can be sent which allows them to view your client record. The provider will review your identified needs and determine how they can assist. You then make the final decision on whether or not to engage their services.

At NHCH, we offer support with NDIS bowel management and personal care for individuals requiring daily or emergency assistance. We provide tailored services and work alongside you and your healthcare provider to develop a personalised plan that meets your specific needs and goals. For more information about our services, fill out the enquiry form, and we will contact you shortly to discuss your requirements.
