What Does Aged Care Housekeeping Support Include?
We are an approved aged care provider offering subsidised aged care and support services to people in Hunter and Newcastle. The government offers subsidies and funding for aged care under different schemes. If you need housekeeping support for an older person who is eligible for funding, contact NHCH today to discuss your requirements.
What Does the Aged Care Cover?
The Aged Care may fund support workers to help you keep your house clean and in good shape by performing basic cleaning and maintenance tasks as required. These supports are available to older people in Australia. The funding may cover assistance with house cleaning and dusting, routine home maintenance, repairing, gardening, etc. Home modifications such as painting, renovation, wall repairs, ceiling maintenance, pipe repairs and door replacements may be covered depending on the situation.
The Aged Care does not fund housekeeping support for people who do not meet the age criteria. For instance, Aged Care will not fund the renovation of a family member’s house where you don’t live.

The Regional Assessment Service will work with you to develop a personalised home support plan tailored directly to your needs. Assessors send a ‘referral for service’ to appropriate providers, such as Newcastle and Hunter Community Health, to let them know you are a new client and would like to engage their services. The provider will contact you to make further arrangements.
Alternatively, if you would like to visit or speak to a service provide to decide if they are the right fit for you, a ‘referral code’ can be sent which allows them to view your client record. The provider will review your identified needs and determine how they can assist. You then make the final decision on whether or not to engage their services.
