Nursing NHCH celebrates International Nurses Day

Nursing NHCH celebrates International Nurses Day

Happy International Nurses Day (IND) to all nurses and nursing students around the world! Today we honour the incredible work nurses do every day and celebrate the contributions they make to the health and wellbeing of our communities.

History of International Nurses Day

May 12 marks the anniversary of the birth of health pioneer Florence Nightingale, who is considered by many to be the founder of modern nursing. Her revolutionary efforts in the Crimean War, mathematical skills and contribution within the public sector, lead nursing to become what it is today: one of the most respected and valuable professions.

Why we have a theme

Each year the International Council of Nurses sets a theme for IND and commemorates this special day by producing and distributing resources to encourage nurses to be a #VoiceToLead. This year’s theme is Health for All, which focuses on the importance of health care accessibility for everyone across the globe.

Why we have a theme

Our incredible Nurses at Newcastle and Hunter Community Health (NHCH) specialise in a range of services, including aged care, after hospital care, home care, private services, disability care and veteran’s affairs.

NHCH nurses are passionate about providing optimum in-home care for our clients, helping them achieve their health and life goals. We help our clients live as independently as possible and aim to make a real difference in the lives of clients across the Newcastle and Hunter region.

We hope you take this day as an opportunity to say thank you to the nurses in your life! If you would like to find out more about the services we provide, visit our website or call 4920 1637.
